Founder’s Story
Meet Joan
Joan is an educationist, analyst, and patient activist with specialized expertise in medical education, storytelling, and problem-solving. In her final year of medical school, while experiencing a progressively severe case of misdiagnosed “eczema” she stumbled upon her chemical allergy diagnosis on the Internet.
This turning point led her to create educational publications to explain her condition, which grew into a broader commitment to transforming how medical education is delivered. In 2022, she founded MedULingo, a platform focused on making medical literacy more accessible through self-paced learner-centered educational materials, and strength-based resources.
Myrimaven builds on that vision. Rooted in the belief that both lived experience and expertise matter, Joan promotes and supports sensemaking and wayfinding with culturally grounded stories and data solutions.
To meaningfully transform the education, health, and information landscape through strategic solutions that are grounded in lived experience and expertise, amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering equitable practices.
